"You are not an easy man to find, Mister O'Sulliven." Zoey said, as she walked up behind Patton. She pretended to be upset, but in all honesty, she was overjoyed. She was eager to see her man. Especially after the day they had.
Patton smiled and then sighed in relief. “Zoey!” He spun around and hugged her. “I was looking all over for you.”
Zoey notice his spun, as excited as he was to see, she was more eager to get her arms around him. And her lips on him as well. She openly accepted his hug, and passionately kissed him. But then realized that they were in the mess hall. She needed to cool it. Before they got in trouble. "I'm sorry, just excited to see you." She said, with a big grin. She was worried that something had happen to him. She was glad to be wrong.
“Honestly,” Patton said as he looked at her, relief in his eyes. “I would have you do that again. I was worried about you and yet with most of my security missing I wasn’t able to search for you.”
"How much of the crew is missing?" Zoey asked, noticing the ship seemed a bit light on crew.
“I don’t have numbers,” Patton replied. “But a good share of them.” He shook his head. “We have no answers to where they are or if they survived.”
"Can we speculate to what happened?" Zoey asked Patton, hoping that he had some information. His primary station was the bridge, so hopefully he was in the loop.
“We’re in a different time period.” Patton explained . “I don’t know if they were left in ours or if they are here somewhere else or....” he didn’t want to say that they might have been lost forever.
"No seriously, what is going on?" Zoey asked, thinking that Patton was playing a silly joke on her.
“I am being serious,” Patton looked her in the eyes. “We have somehow needed up in a different time.” He paused. “In the future.”
"How?" Zoey asked, a little confused, how this transpired.
“I don’t have the answer to that I am afraid.” Patton replied. “I have been so busy in security keeping us protected.”
"We need to find out. Partial answers can be potentially dangerous. Especially in my line of work." Zoey suggested to him. They needed the full story. If you are only getting part of the answer, then you can not see the big picture.
“I have a meeting coming up.” Patton informed her. “I am certain they must have more information for us.”
"Maybe then, we will get some answers." Zoey said, still wondering why and how they go to this situation, and how and when can they go home.
“There will be answers.” Patton was sure of it. “It is what comes next that has be concerned.”
"What do you expect to happen?" Zoey said, having no idea what he meant by his last comment.
“We obviously want to go home.” Patton explained. “What if we can’t? Then we’re stuck here in a ship that needs a lot of repair.”
"Let's not go there, yet. I have faith too." Zoey said, with a big grin on her face. She was trying to remain positive for him.
“You’re right.” Patton nodded. “We need to keep a positive attitude.”
"I know you can do it, I have seen you at your best." Zoey said, as she looked Patton in the eyes. Now that he was done stalking Jasmine, she saw the man that he could be. And she liked him.
“Regardless.” Patton smiled at her with feeling in his eyes. “We have each other and we’re both strong. We will make it through this.”
"Regardless?" Zoey asked, she wondered what he meant by that. Why would he say that, Zoey wondered as she gave him a puzzling look.
“Meaning we have each other while stuck here as well as the journey back.” Patton explained.
"Knowing that, makes this a lot easier to handle." Zoey suggested to him, as she leaned in to give him a hug.
“It does.” Patton nodded. “That was what I was saying. I am glad I’m here with you.”
"My would be hero, I love it." Zoey said, with a big grin on her face.
“We belong together.” Patton said as if it were a statement of fact. “And we will be forever if I have my way.”
"Your way?" Zoey asked, a little curious to learn what he meant by that comment.
“Meaning that I want to spend this life with you.” Patton said with a smile. “I hope you feel the same.”
"Of course I do Silly." Zoey said, with big puppy eyes of affection. He was saying all the right words, to make her heart melt.
Patton smiled widely. “For a minute you had me nervous. I didn’t mean things would go my way but our way.”
"Good, you should be a little nervous. That way you do not become complacient and forget to treat me right. I do the same for you. I worry a little bit, and do not become to complacient. Especially with you being around Jasmine Haynes." Zoey pointed out to him.
“Jasmine doesn’t hold a candle to you.” Patton replied seriously. “I don’t know what I ever saw in her.” He smiled then. “I will never take you for granted.”
"I hope not, but that will not change how I feel." Zoey suggested to him, with a serious look on her face.
Patton smiled at her. “I don’t think you realize how much you mean to me. I know how rare what we have is and I will do whatever I can to keep us happy.”
"That aside, it does not change how I feel." Zoey suggested to him. She needed him to accept that, instead of him trying to force her to change that flaw within her.
“I understand.” Patton said with a nod. “I wouldn’t want to change you.”
"Nor would I want to change you." Zoey said, with a playful grin on her face.
Patton grinned back at her. “Sound like we have things together well.” He really wanted to kiss her but they were in the mess hall. Would she care?
"Save that energy for later." Zoey said, seeing in his eyes what he wanted to do. "Shall we get something to eat?" She asked, as she looked for any reason to get them out of the situation.
“Yes.” Patton smiled. “I am starving.” That wasn’t new, he was always hungry but one of those who never gained weight.
"Me too." Zoey said, she had worked up an appetite by chatting with him. She followed in behind him. And prepared to dish up some food.
“Everything looks good.” Patton grinned as he started making choices. “But I’ll restrain myself from taking everything.”
"It's replicated food I believe, but I will try to imagine it as a gourmet meal prepared by a premiere chef." Zoey said, trying to stomanch the idea of eating replicated food.
“I keep telling myself it is better than starving.” Patton said with a smile. “But that is barely true.”
"I wish our minds can tell our stomach that." Zoey said, with a big grin on her face. She was trying to lighten up the mood.
“Wouldn’t that be nice.” Patton grinned as they found a table and sat down. “So where shall we pretend we’re eating at?”
"Here in the mess hall is fine. As long as I get to stare at that handsome face." Zoey said, with a big teasing grin on her face. Her lips were saying 'come and kiss me,' but her body said no.
“And the trade off for me is looking at your gorgeous face.” Patton grinned. He really wanted to move closer and kiss her senseless but they were among others.
"You are to sweet with your words. I am A lucky lady indeed. " Zoey said, with a big grin on her face.
“Fate brought us to this place.” Patton said with a grin. “And I am lucky she brought me you.”
"Remind me to thank fate later on then." Zoey said, trying to get him to smile. He was vrey love struck at the moment.
“I will.” Patton laughed. “I’ll thank her as well. Let her know she still has the magic touch.”
"Why is fate a girl?" Zoey asked, with a teasing grin on her face. She wondered, why he thought the representation of fate would be a female?
“I don’t know.” Patton shrugged. “My Dad always referred to her as a woman.” His eyes lit up. “Maybe because she is so smart.”
"Okay, I suppose that works." Zoey said, hoping there was more to it. But sometimes answers are just that simple. Not that there was anything wrong with a simple answer.
“We can refer to fate as a male.” Patton said with a grin. “But I don’t know any men who are good at matchmaking.”
"That seems a little sexiest." Zoey said, with a confused look on her face. That was not fair of him to say, about all men.
“It was a joke.” Patton informed her. “Our lives are serious enough with all that has happened dont you think?” He grinned at her.
"Joke or not, it sounds very sexist." Zoey pointed out to him. She wanted him to know she can play hard ball too, and tease around as well. She was hiding a smile under her fake upset face.
“I’m not the one who first made fate a woman.” Patton replied with a small smile. He wasn’t sure how serious she was. “Blame it on the sexist men who called their ships, cars and planes females, centuries ago.”
"Nice try no deflection, but are the one who said it now." Zoey said, wondering why he did not simply let it go. The more he defended it, the bigger of a jerk he appeared to be. Now he is trying to justify it , was just wrong.
“I did.” Patton admitted he was wrong. “And I am man enough to admit it. I have learned the error of my ways.” He smiled at her. “I promise to not do it again.”
"Good, by the way. I am totally kidding call fate a woman all you want." Zoey said, with a loving grin as she leaned in for a kiss, as the scene starts to fade away.
Patton grinned. “She is one hell of a woman.” He was thinking of Zoey who cared about fate.
"Pitty now I am jealous, of my competition." Zoey said, as the scene starts to fade away, with her having a big grin on her face. She was keeping Patton on his toes, so he would not take her for granted.
