• Advanced engineering skills, little interest in sciences
• Still trying to find out what happened to her mother; detests the Emerald Chain in general and Orions in particular

History

Personal History Ceara O’Hare was born on an Emerald Chain mining colony, where her mother had worked as an “entertainer”. Her father is unknown, but certain to be one of the “clients” who visited the “establishment” where Ceara’s mother had lived and worked after being “rescued” from a wrecked cargo ship.
When Ceara was three years old, the indentured miners on the colony rose up against the Chain, and she and her mother were among those who were able to escape. By the time she was eleven, she had learned to pilot a starship effectively in combat and had become a courier alongside her mother, earning herself the moniker ‘Scarlet’ in reference to her blood-red eyes; her mother was known as “Phantom” for her equally ghostly appearance.
Just after Ceara’s fourteenth birthday, however, their ship was attacked by an Emerald Chain raider, breaking up in the atmosphere of a small planet. While Ceara managed to escape, the fate of her mother is unknown.
After crash-landing, she fought her way through to the nearest Mercantile, where she encountered a group of Starfleet officers trying to make their way back to Federation Headquarters, and, claiming to be twenty years old, offered to join them as their navigator and receiving a field commission as an Ensign on board U.S.S. Valiant. The ship had become stranded at the edge of the quadrant when its dilithium supplies ran out, and had encountered severe difficulties in replenishing them, having to resort to courier work and smuggling to fund their continued journey home.
When the ship’s Executive Officer was killed in battle five years into their journey, Valiant’s Captain decided to make Ceara, by now a provisional Lieutenant Commander, his replacement, as her knowledge of the underworld, the mercantiles, and the Emerald Chain had often proved to be the decisive advantage to guide the ship through dangerous encounters.
After a journey of almost nine years, Valiant finally reached Federation HQ, just in time to see the resolution of the Burn and the discovery of the Dilithium planet. During a routine medical examination, Ceara’s age deception was finally discovered, but due to her service record on board Valiant, her commission as a Lieutenant Commander was confirmed and she remained as official Executive Officer of U.S.S. Valiant until the ship was destroyed by the DMA as it approached Earth and Ni’Var; Ceara had been on board Federation HQ to assist with the evacuation of Earth.
With the DMA crisis over, Ceara received a promotion to the full rank of Commander, and was assigned to USS Sulaco as Chief Flight Control Officer and Navigator.
