| Personality Overview | Emiul Thikaik is decisive, loving both momentum and accomplishment. Once he gathers information and constructs his plan, he rarely hesitates for long before acting on it, but at times he's seen as being a bit too direct. While his mother was Vulcan, Emiul gravitates more toward the passions of his Romulan ancestors. Emiul was, at times, very loyal and heroic, and has a strong dedication to the Confederacy of Ni'Var. His family were among the most important things in his life, and the death of his wife has had a tremendous impact upon his life. |
History
| Personal History | Emiul Thikaik was born on Ni'Var to Valdin Thikaik, a Romulan man, and T'Elu, a Vulcan woman, making him a member of the Romulo-Vulcan subgroup of Ni'Var. While unification had occurred between the Romulans and Vulcans, the Romulo-Vulcans hybrid descendants were not always seen favorably after the Burn and insurgencies arose on Ni'Var involving this subgroup. Among those challenged were his own parents as they were not Romulo-Vulcan themselves. Rather than deal with the increased animosity toward their family, Emiul's family left Ni'Var when he was a teenager for Weytahn. When he came of age Emiul chose to join the Confederacy of Ni'Var's naval forces and returned to Ni'Var itself to begin his studies. While he became one of the most decorated cadets of his class, Emiul's career at the Academy was difficult because of his immature attitude. Emiul was seen by many of his instructors as having been selfish, ambitious, and arrogant, but graduated from the academy with high marks and would be assigned to the Ni'Varian vessel Surak upon graduation as a pilot. While serving aboard the Surak, Emiul participated in several skirmishes between the Confederacy of Surak and the Emerald Chain in the Vulcan Sector. Rising through the ranks quickly, Emiul would pilot the Surak through several complex incidents before being transferred to the D'Kyr as the Senior Helmsman. A Heavy Cruiser, the D'Kyr would see even more combat than the Surak, but led Emiul to meet his close friend and mentor Sullautha T'Kar. A Romulo-Vulcan like himself, Commander T'Kar taught him much about duty and honor, and became a close confidant. Emiul would, however, have his career significantly damaged after his relationship with Deena Tagessaa was discovered. Tagessaa was an Orion woman whom Emiul had met during his early career. The two had a relationship and a son who was named Hessuv Thikaik after his maternal grandfather. Emiul, who had been on path for command of the starship Votantius, instead found himself assigned to the vessel as its Senior Pilot. A devastating blow for Emiul due to his desire to command a starship, his sorrow was worsened when Deena was killed in an Emerald Chain raid on a transport ship she was a passenger on, but their son was spared and taken to his father. Subcommander Thikaik's life would be forever changed when the Votantius was destroyed in a skirmish above Weytahn by the Andorian Empire. Emiul, with his son, were among the only survivors of the attack and were able to escape to the planet; however, it was jointly administrated by the Confederacy of Ni'Var and the Emerald Chain through the Andorian Empire. During this incident, Emiul met Zehoi D'ian and was taken to her clinic for treatment with his son. Facing prison, Zehoi risked her freedom to nurse Emiul and his son back to health and forged immigration papers for Emiul and his son to join the Ni'Varian portion of the colony. While living on Weytahn, which the Ni'Varian's referred to as Paan Mokar, Emiul attempted to make a life for both himself and his son, but it was challenging because of the potential for strife between the Ni'Varian's and Emerald Chain at any time. Nevertheless, Emiul's relationship with Zehoi D'ian blossomed from a friendship to a relationship over time despite the taboo and potential criminality. Becoming business partners, D'ian helped to arrange the transfer of the salvage ship Sulaco from her family's holdings to Emiul for his salvage business. Often, Emiul will conduct salvage contracts on his own and recruited a small crew of his own to assist him, with D'ian occasonally serving as the medic on their runs. |
