History
| Personal History | Jacen was born on Trill, to unjoined parents, Marzan and Denora Crul. He was a strong-willed, stoic child, with an instinctual talent for working with technology. He was also a child who lacked tact and could be counted on to say exactly what was on his mind at any given opportunity. In school, Jacen excelled academically, and athletically, but always struggled socially. He considered this to be of little import, and simply applied himself all the harder to his studies. He was a star student when it came to physical sciences, history, languages, and mathematics. He struggled sometimes with the more esoteric subjects, like politics, economics, and philosophy, finding little value in them, though he applied himself diligently to show that he at least was absorbing the material. Upon graduation from his primary education, he was recruited into Battle Group Omega, a specialized Starfleet Battle Group, due to his innate abilities with engineering and technology. He was given the best on-the-job education possible, in both structural engineering and propulsion technology, the two subjects he seemed most inclined to understand, and was then granted the rank of Ensign at the age of twenty. He would serve BGO as a repair engineer, assisting with the maintenance of vessels as they returned to base, and helping to keep the fleet afloat as it were, as they struggled to try to rebuild the Federation. It was while serving in BGO that he was lucky enough to be in the right place, at the right time, not once, but twice. First being there when another Trill, this one joined, was fatally wounded, and being given the chance to save the life of the Tav symbiont, and second, finding himself coming face to face with a piece of living history. A starship designated Federation One, had found its way into the 32nd century due to an engine imbalance. Battered, but still somehow alive, with a traumatized crew, and badly damaged systems, she was looking for any connection to Starfleet and the Federation. As one of the top officers to be found when it came to repairing and refitting systems on older vessels Jacen requested assignment to Federation One to assist them in their goal, despite that meaning he’d have to leave the BGO behind. His application was approved, and he found himself joining the crew of the starship from the past as they continued trying to find the remnants of the Federation. |
